Could I Get A Ticket If My Friends Through Eggs Out Of My Car?
Well my friends had eggs and I found out they did so I locked their windows, but when we were driving they opened the door and threw about 5 eggs, could I get a ticket? I think a car behind me could have got my license plate number.
I have been pretty stressed out about this because I just got a car and I cant really afford a ticket right now.
If you don't get one within a few hours, you probably won't be getting one.
You could have gotten one if it were witnessed by the police. More likely, they would have questioned you a bit, then picked out the person who threw the eggs and given them a ticket. If they had to open the door to throw the eggs, then you probably have a decent defense as far as taking reasonable steps to prevent the action.
You are also lucky in that they did not get hurt while throwing the eggs. Had they fallen out of the vehicle, or hit another vehicle or someone with the door when they opened it, you could have been liable for the damages.
It's probably time to have a short discuession with your friends about what you expect while in your car. You do not need the extra liability of an accident, nor their medical/funeral expenses. You also don't need to have your driving privileges curtailed.
Having multiple teenagers in a car is one of the largest factors in teen automobile accidents. This behavior is an example of why.
