Stone Temple
How do you envision the temple in which you are a living stone, with Christ the cornerstone?
We know that we are the temple of the living God (awesome to think about). But we are also one of many living "stones" in the temple that Jesus is building. How do you envision this temple?
One word came to mind when I read your question, " glorious ".
Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Jesus Christ is the cornerstone, He laid the foundation that no one else could,( 1 Corinthians 3:11 ) and He is a sure foundation, unmovable, unshakeable and eternal. He came to redeem us, He gave Himself for us, to reconcile us to God, so that we could be forgiven, so that we could have eternal life, and so that we could be one with Him. I see this oneness as so important, we are many members but one body, and I see how it is God's desires that we be one in Him. One of the best places that we can see that this is God's desire is when Jesus was praying before He laid down His life.
John 17:21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
I see how this was on God's heart from the beginning, for us to be one in Him, this is why God sent His Son Jesus Christ, to reconcile us to God so that we could be one in Him. He in us and us in Him, and as the temple it is a place that God dwells in us and with us.
Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
My soul sings the words " glory, glory, glory ", what a glorious thing that God chooses to live in us, it is His glory that shines in us, we were made for Him, and we cannot be complete without Him. God has proven His love for us, and I am looking forward to the day that these words are fulfilled:
Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
