fog in california?

How much/bad is the fog in California?
Specifically in the Bakersfield or Paso Robles area? I am wondering how thick it is, how long it takes to 'burn' off, if you can drive in it and any other details you think would be useful! Thank you

Bakersfield does get a lot of fog between December and Jan, sometimes mid to late Feb. Depending on how odd the weather is that year.

Off of 7th standard road, snow road in Fruitville/Norris area and some parts of Rosedale HWY, near the airport can get really bad. Those are some of the many two lane roads where head on collisions or those who go off the road happens. It is wise that if a person goes outside their door and can't see their vehicle or begins to drive and then can't see at least 10 feet infront, it is best to turn around, drive slow with low beams on and drive back home.

I moved up to Tulare county 3 years ago (Still reside and go to school at Bakersfield College) and the fog is a bit worse up here in the mountain/country range in some area's. As Bakersfield is a valley, it is more thicker than it is up here.

Usually, depending on the weather can burn off by 9/10 to noon the latest.

At first it is scary for those who never been in fog before, to drive in it, but after awhile, it comes acustomed. It is those who have no sense of responsibility is the ones I worry about (who think they can drive fast and still can see....). It got bad one point I parked in someone's drive way and I asked them if I can park til it starts to be drivable. Luckly, they were very nice people who didn't mind as that would of been one less wreck risk.
