Poinsettia Bowl
Poinsettia Bowl
Why is BYU projected to go to the Poinsettia Bowl Even after a Utah win?
I thought the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl was the choice for the MWC champ which in this case would be BYU because TCU is in a BCS game? Why then does espn.com have us projected to appear in the Poinsettia Bowl? Have the picking rules changed? I know TCU played Boise State in that bowl last year so it is a good bowl but i was just wondering why the #2 MWC team is going there instead of the Las Vegas? And what number Pac-10 do we play in each of them?
I, a BYU fan, was wondering the same thing. Turns out, the Vegas Bowl people get the first CHOICE of a MWC team. Poinsettia gets the second choice. So, the Vegas Bowl people are thinking that Utah would be a good fit, because they haven't played there in awhile, so they might pick them, so that leaves the Poinsettia Bowl people to pick BYU.
Here is an article describing it:

Hope this helps.
