1) The beach; you have over fifty miles of coast to choose from. Anything close to where you are staying in San Diego is going to be beautiful.
2) The world renowned San Diego Zoo: children, teenagers, parents, and grandparents are sure to love this highly respected Zoo. With dozens of shows and exhibits to choose from, you are sure to leave happy.
3) The Wild Animal Park: the zoo’s more thrilling sibling. If you want to make sure your kids go down for their afternoon nap, take them on one of the walking safaris. If you’re worried about your parents’ knees, take them on the caravan safari instead.
4) La Jolla Shores Cove: though it isn’t exactly great for building sandcastles, you might get a chance to see sunbathing seals and excited scuba divers. Bring a picnic or even barbeque on one of the open pits.
5) Sea World San Diego: for exciting shows, tours, and even rides, Sea World does not disappoint.
6) The Birch Aquarium: for those of you with a shorter attention span, or not enough chaperones, this small aquarium has a beautiful view of La Jolla and about 1-2 hours of exhibits and trivia.
7) Coronado: take a trip over the coolest bridge in the county to Coronado Island. If you head to Imperial Beach, you can see Tijuana across the water and you might get a glimpse of dolphins. Be sure to wander around the famous and luxurious Hotel Del Coronado resort.
Balboa Park and Museums: This huge park surrounds the San Diego Zoo with a dozen or more museums and things to do in San Diego.
9) Shows: depending on your trip dates, you are sure to catch either Shakespeare at Balboa Park, a family fun play in Coronado, or something at the Balboa Theater.
10) Harbor Cruise: Take the family for a relaxing trip off the coast of San Diego. There are a few different options for your cruise, but most are 1-2 hours. You can find the ships docked downtown past the Convention Center or in Point Loma, near the airport.
