2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition AWD battery and check engine light on?
Every now and then my explorer will fail to start immediately. I know it's not the battery because it has been replaced very recently. Also, the engine turns over and everything it just won't hold a sufficient idle without me giving it some gas. Even when I give it gas, when I release the gas pedal the engine will fail to stay on. This only happens about 1 in every 5 times I start the car, and will sometimes go a week or so without happening, but once it does happen it can tend to happen a couple times in a row. Every time this happens I am able to get the car to stay running by quickly throwing it into gear after I have warmed the engine up a little bit. I think this is a problem with my computer module not recognizing the start-up or a problem with my idle system. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks so much.
Since it happens on a cold start, I would lean to the automatic choke.
