Ride Fare

Use share ride service instead of public transportation

Airport shuttle is also called as share ride van service. Some companies use passenger vans, SUV’s and sedans also. Many shuttle companies offer shared ride service in a number of cities. Basically in shared ride service, van is shared with other passengers and stopped in various locations along the way. One major benefit of this service is the cost. It is considered much cheaper than taxi fare, limo or private sedan. Another benefit is the environment. If there are nearly 6 to 8 passengers going in the same direction then airport shuttle is considered best as it will take everyone in one trip. But if everyone takes a cab or limo it may take six trips. Many companies do provide charter service and area tour service.

When you’re using airport shuttle service you have to keep certain things on mind. Find out the price, hours of operation, are they always at the airport, will they wait if the flight is delayed, pick up location at the airport and do they drop off/pick up at your address. One more thing to ask is how many stops the shuttle van will make? Most of the companies will limit to three stops, however better be safe than sorry. Make advance reservation ahead of time. If you make advance reservation you will know everything about the company and will not risk any nasty surprises. There may be numerous issues with operators like no insurance, no permit, no English or no knowledge of the area and a higher price. Always keep an eye on your luggage, make sure that they put it in the van and no one takes it by mistake. Also see to it that you don’t take someone else’s.  Don’t forget anything; this is how most of the things get lost. Note down van number, license plate, note down the date and time of your trip, and how many people were there in the shuttle van with you. If you have not noted down these details it may be difficult to prove your case. It would be better if know the procedure of cancellation policy. If your plans change you will not be charged. If you like the driver’s service it would be better to tip the driver.

If you’re not happy with the airport shuttle service you can file a complaint. All the airport shuttle operators are licensed with local public utilities commission and the airport that the shuttle company is serving. If you’re unhappy with their service you can talk with them. You can tell your problem to them. But if they do not respond properly even after that you can tell you will send a letter to the PUC and airport. Both of them are very strict, they can penalize the company or suspend it. It would be better if you speak to the owner or manager rather than dispatcher. Managers can settle your dispute. You can ask for discount, full reimbursement or complimentary service next time or on the way back.
